“I Have Nothing to Hide” isn’t a Good Reason to Give Up Your Rights

If you think about it, the technology you use every day has seen things that you wouldn’t want others to know about. Yes, you. Everyone.

You don’t want your neighbors to have your bank account and routing numbers and medication history, do you? Do you leave your car doors unlocked with your wallet, keys on the dash?

Without going into more prurient examples of the need for privacy, we should all be concerned whenever the government or private interests compromise our privacy online.

We are supposed to be living in a free country, which means you should have the right to control the information about you. Besides, it’s not just about you, it’s about all of us.
