A note on advertising. The owner of this site created this so that the public is better informed and has the tools they need in order to do so. In that spirit, that’s why we also do professional, detached way. If anything, we might get angry if we perceive that the public deserves better. To that end, we do not now nor will we have any financial relationship with a news organization in Southern Nevada. If a non-media local business or individual would like to place an advertisement or make a donation to help offset the cost of production, please contact us. Please see this page for our transparency regarding the financial aspects of this website.
A note on tracking and cookies and terms of service. I am in the process of removing Google analytics from the website. However, that will retain some Google Site Kit to help improve our reach through the Google Search engine, which will result in some cookies, but no crackers as far as I am aware, and the GDPR compliance settings are turned on. Additionally, there will always be a few, non-tracking cookies which do not identify you—are essentially there to load the scripts that make the webiste function faster should you use it again.
A note on bias analysis. We also provide news bias analysis and critiques so that the public can get a better picture of what they are and are not informed about we are fully aware of what’s going on in our world. Clark County is a highly transient town and full of relatively new residents. Another purpose is so they know the pros and cons of each news organization and help bring transparency to our market.
As someone who was born and raised here with a journalism backgound, I want our newcomers to make smart choices when it comes to news. Not everyone knows that Nate Tannenbaum is a masterful floutest. I mean, of course I do, but then again I used to drive up the 95 to MLK before cell phones to intern at the Review-Journal in high school. I rear ended Steve Wynn’s Bentley on the way once. He was really chill about it. Thank goodness. I didn’t interact with him, so maybe it Elaine and she took pity on poor high school student. Who knows.
A note on copyright and fair use. As someone with a background in publishing and journalism, I understand much of copyright law, especially in terms of fair use. I do not intend to infringe upon the copyright of any person. However, this site serves dual functions, both educational, neither of which are commercial. The first function is the a filtering and search aggregator. The second function is a platform to promote original content or content that is republished under an appropraite license to promote the ideals of online and digital freedom, safety, individual reponsibility, and government that works for the people, by the people.
The aggregator displays the traditional limitations, such as headline and does not permanently host the content. The second function is to encourage critical thinking and media literacy skills and provide an objective professional perspective. Additionally, this is a non-commercial enterprise, which date has cost around $1,000 and made zero dollars.
